Institute „Fontanile Anagnino”

With the Law of Autonomy D.P.R. 275/99 the juridical personality has been attributed to our scholastic institution with the denomination of Comprehensive Institute „Fontanile Anagnino„. It operates in the district of Morena, extreme southern suburbs of Rome, on the border with the municipality of Ciampino. It consists of the Primary School and Secondary Secondary School. It welcomes a school population of about 900 students, 119 teachers and 19 ATAs. Significant presence of some foreign students, pupils with socio-family problems and other Roma, coming from a nearby nomad camp. In the neighborhood, in the last twenty years, there has been a strong urban expansion, which has not corresponded with a proportionate development of cultural and aggregative structures.

In this context, the School stands as a central fulcrum in proposing initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of the students; promotes, annually, specific projects, competitions, meetings and participation in events in collaboration with associations and local authorities.

The „Music and Cinema” National Music Competition was born during the school year 2006-2007, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the school’s birth. It provides for the participation of schools from all over Italy and is an opportunity for students and for the district of Morena to live an important experience that recovers the sense of belonging and offers the opportunity to experience moments of aggregation and enhancement of the neighborhood same.

The participation of all school members and the enhancement of different professional skills, enriches and promotes a school climate that is prone to change, to research and to sharing good educational practices. The aspect of intercultural relations, of welcoming and of inclusion is very well taken care of.

The construction and growth of a consistent path of continuity and orientation between primary and secondary schools of first degree, focused on the acquisition of key competences and citizenship, are the center of the „mission” of our Institute.

The continuity stems from the primary need to guarantee the pupil’s right to an organic and complete training path, which promotes an articulated and multidimensional development of the subject who, even in the evolutionary changes and in the various scholastic institutions, builds his identity. Hence, the choice of educational goals and general „common” objectives, of works articulated by departments and interclasses, to guarantee the dimension of continuity and of the organic nature of the training path.

Starting from the last „National indications for the curriculum for the first cycle school”, the Faculty Board, divided into disciplinary groups, has started working on the construction of the Curriculum of the Institute, which highlights priorities:

– Verticality;

– Design for „backward” skills;

– Identification of fundamental areas of the disciplines;

– Reference to key competences and European citizenship.

The curricular path requires continuous methodological research actions and educational and didactic programming tools, continuous observations and ongoing monitoring in the final phase. A dedicated team promotes and coordinates common monitoring and verification activities.
